Designer totes and handbags that carry it all
A leather tote bag is the hardest-working piece in a wardrobe, and Lorenzia's tote collection is built around that. You will find open-top shoppers in grained leather, structured totes with a zip closure, lightweight canvas totes with leather trim, and smaller east-west shapes for days when a laptop is not coming along. Every tote is made to the same specification as the boutique version, using the same leathers, hardware and craftspeople, and priced below retail.
Picking the right size
Measure the widest thing you carry. A 13-inch laptop needs an interior of at least 33 cm across; a 15-inch model needs closer to 37 cm. Medium totes around 30 cm wide hold a tablet, a planner and a makeup bag comfortably. Handle drops of 20 to 25 cm fit over a coat sleeve; shorter drops are made for hand carry.
Leather or canvas
Grained calfskin totes are the most forgiving of daily use and can be wiped clean. Smooth calfskin looks more formal and develops a soft patina. Coated canvas is the lightest and most weather-resistant, which makes it the best choice for commuting in wet weather.
Caring for a tote
Empty the bag at the end of the day and store it upright, stuffed with tissue, inside its dust bag. Avoid hanging a loaded tote by one handle for long stretches, as the leather will stretch unevenly.
